Franklin Delano Roosevelt
Franklin Delano Roosevelt was born on January 30th in 1882 in Hyde Park, New York. His name means "Field of Roses" in Dutch word. Franklin D. Roosevelt was the only child in his family. He was born in rich family. His father was James Roosevelt who was the successful president of a railroad company. His family was one of the oldest in New York. His ancestor, Isaac Roosevelt had served with the New York militia during the American Revolution. However his grandfather, warren Delano was the main reason that the family became wealth since Warren Delano traded opium and tea with China. Also, Roosevelt's family went to trip to Europe a lot of times so Franklin D. Roosevelt was able to speak and familiar with French and German.
Since he was grown up in an atmosphere of privilege, Roosevelt's parents provided him a good education. He learned to ride, shoot, row, play, polo, lawn tennis, golf and sail. Franklin graduated Groton school in Massachusetts. Then he went to the Harvard College and received BA degree. He graduated college in 3 years and studied law in the Columbia Law School in New York.
He was a lawyer at first but he realized that he didn't like being a lawyer, so he tried politics in 1910 and won the election and became a Senator of New York.
